By Erik Chiputula:

Week 23 of the TNM Super League produced a total of 15 goals.

Silver Strikers were the highest scores putting three past TN Stars in a game their star striker Chawanangwa Kaonga registered his second brace of the season to take his tally for the season to 11 making him the joint top goal scorer alongside Nyasa Big Bullets Babatunde Adepoju.

That loss leaves TN Stars second from bottom on the log table having only managed to collect 12 points from 21 games.

Only bottom placed Rumphi United have collected fewer points more than the Kasungu based side.

The weekend produced five wins and two draws. Three wins were registered away from home while two teams Moyale Barracks and Ekwendeni Hammers grabbed home wins.

Lets take a look at some big points drawn from the weekend gone by

COMEBACK KINGS MIGHTY MUKURU WANDERERS AT IT AGAIN

Miracle Gabeya scored an 88th minute equalizer as Mighty Mukuru Wanderers pulled off another comeback in the TNM Super League to force a 2-2 draw against Dedza Dynamos on Sunday afternoon.

Dedza looked certain to end Alex Ngwira’s unbeaten run as Wanderers coach when Clement Nyondo and Edward Dakalila put them 2-0 up at halftime but Francis Mkonda pulled one back few minutes into the second half before Gabeya’s leveler with just two minutes to go.

That was the Wanderers second remarkable comeback in a space of a month as in August the Lali Lubani boys also came from two goals down to force a 3-3 draw against cross town rivals Nyasa Big Bullets.

EKWENDENI EARNS FIRST WIN UNDER GILBERT CHIRWA

It’s lift-off for Gilbert Chirwa as the former Flames coach made it 5th time lucky by claiming his first victory for Ekwendeni Hammers as they beat Sable Farming 2-0.

The Hammers had gone 16 games without a win but goals from Chunga and Chikumbutso Henderson were enough to hand Gilbert Chirwa his first win since taking over from Ettson kadenge last month.

SABLE DROP SIX POINTS IN MZUZU TO SLIP INTO RELEGATION ZONE

Sable Farmings poor run of form continued over the weekend as they returned from their northern region tour empty handed losing 2-0 to Ekwendeni Hammers on Saturday before going down 1-0 to Moyale Barracks 24 hours later.
Former Civo United forward Raphael Phiri was on target for the Lions of Kaningina forest.

They are returning home empty handed after dropping six points in their two assignments up the North.

Those two losses mean Masebo drop into the bottom three as they occupy 14th place with 15 points from 20 games. As for Ekwendeni Hammers their win on Saturday means they have now moved out of the relegation zone as they occupy position 13 with 19 points from 20 games.

RACE FOR GOLDEN BOOT INTENSFIES

The race fo0r the golden boot award just got exciting over the weekend m as a Chawanangwa Kaonga brace against TN Stars has now taken the Silver Strikers forward joint top on the scorers chart with 11 goals alongside Nyasa Big Bullets Babatunde Adepoju.

CAPITAL CITY SHINES IN WEEK 23

All capital city based sides managed to record victories over the weekend.

Silver Strikers a managed a resounding 3-1 victory over TN Stars while elsewhere in Karonga, Civo United triumphed 1-0 over karonga United Untied.

Binwell katinji was on target for the servants.

In Balaka Kamuzu Barracks chase for a top four continues as a Sammy Chiponda lone strike was all what Charles Kamangas men needed to collect home all maximum points over brothers in arms Red Lions.
