Mbabzi United extended their unbeaten run as they stunned Luanar FC in the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup round of 32.
Mbabzi have not lost since the start of the CRFA Chipiku Premier division final round of 12 teams, late in September now knocked Luanar FC out 5-4 on penalties, following a goaless draw at Mbabzi Ground.
The Mbabzi based side are now unbeaten in nine games in all regional competitions after Innocent Ndindi netted the key spot-kick as they progressed into the round of 16 of the competition.
They scored other penalties through Jopeson Jali, Lengani Saidi, Ignacio Makoloni and Maulana Mustafa.
Luanar, on the other hand scored through Michael Nyirenda, McDonald Chiwanda, Phillip Mtika and Abdul Razack while Graham Dzimkambani missed his spot kick.
Mitundu Baptist rout Villa FC 2-0 with goals from Chawanangwa Bintoni and Emmanuel Banda as Santhe Admarc registered the same margin to send Kamba FC parking.
Elsewhere Blue Eagles Reserve claimed an emphatic 5-1 victory over Chatoloma Admarc at Nankhaka Stadium. Umar Mustafa registered a hat trick while Evance Mitengo and Maxwell Mbewe scored a goal each. Chatoloma’s consolation goal was scored by Laston Pingeni.
Silver Strikers Reserve have also progressed with a 1-0 victory over Mangoni Warriors at ADL Ground thanks to Malizani Kalima’s lone strike.
At Guilime Ground in Mchinji, Play Football Malawi have been brushed aside by Simbi FC who beat them 3-0 courtesy of Junior Chande, Victor Kafuwa and Chisomo Peter goals.
The last game of the afternoon was played at Kasungu Stadium between Chisomo Academy and Nsaru United where 10 goals were scored.
Chisomo Academy beat Nsaru United 8-2 to progress into the round of 16.
There was a hat trick from Chifundo Ngonjela and a brace by Macdonald Chima for Chisomo Academy who also scored through Hope Siu, Esau Kamtoseni and Augustine Banda.
On the other hand, Nsaru United only managed to score their two goals through Akidu Justin and Yamikani Andrew.
