The TNM Super League rookies, Bangwe All Stars are targeting to finish in the top five this season after ruthlessly trouncing Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar Football Club 3-0 at the Mpira Stadium.

Abel Mkandawire, Head Coach for the Club said he is being encouraged by the performance of his charges that they can achieve their goal of sealing a spot in the top five.

“We are not satisfied with survival. Our target is to finish in the top five of the league table,” Mkandawire told the reporters. “We have players who listen to what we teach them and we believe that we can achieve it.”

Mphatso Jika’s team were coming from a shocking defeat to the league anchors, Extreme FC and they needed to bag maximum points for them to be safe from relegation.

Emmanuel Saviel beat Anthony Singini with a low shot after connecting home Kondwani Chilembwe’s good delivery before Robert Saizi who was named the man of the match later doubled Bangwe’s lead just minutes before the recess.

Dedza Dynamos were knocking on Bangwe’s defence through Lameck Gamphani but Talandira Chigaula, Fanizo Mwansambo and Sunganani Godfrey formed a great wall to keep Elias Missi at ease.

Chikumbutso Salima finished the rout in the second half after thundering Chilembwe’s headed ball to dush Dedza’s comeback hope.

The victory which Mkandawire describes as a vital, lifts Bangwe All Stars to 7th with 35 points and they have 4 games to play before wrapping up their season.

“This is a sweet victory. The boys played well. We have good players. Sometimes we lose some of our games because the players are still in the learning phase. We have played beautiful football and we have scored beautiful goals,” added Mkandawire.

Meanwhile, Dedza Dynamos were coming from a 1-all stalemate against Moyale Barracks and they have just won one game in their last six games in all competitions. They just beat Blue Eagles 2-1.

Gilbert Chirwa who replaced Dan Dzimkambani earlier this year as the head coach for the Team said they conceded silly goals leading to their heavy defeat.

He said, “We played well, and the game was okay in the early minutes of the game. We conceded silly goals and maybe that’s the problem [that led to our defeat]

“That’s very true [that we came to take three points] but I think today because of the rains, it took so many hours for the game to be played. We played, I think we started well. We conceded silly goals until we introduced some players but we failed to score. It was difficult to find goals.

“After introducing Kamwendo, we were able to have firepower but we failed to score some goals. The boys didn’t tick the way we thought they could.”

The Salima Sugar sponsored side started the game on position 7 but have dropped to 8th place with 35 points from 26 games. They will host Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in their next assignment at Dedza Stadium.

“We are facing Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Dedza Stadium. It will be another game. We have lost this one and we just have to concentrate on our next game against Wanderers,” added Chirwa.
