Some Moyale Barracks players have been injured by some angry fans suspected to be Dedza Dynamos supporters who attacked their bus after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Dedza Stadium on Saturday.

The Soldiers from Kaning’ina took the lead after 40 minutes of play through Gastin Simkonda but Dedza equalized on 90th minute courtesy of Ibrahim Sadick’s spot kick.

But according to Moyale Barracks captain, Gastin Simkonda he couldn’t tell what prompted fans to attack their bus after when leaving from the venue.

“We played well and scored in the first half but towards the end referee gave them a dubious penalty, we didn’t complain they equalized and it ended 1-1 but when leaving the stadium some fans followed us and started pelting stones on our bus and in the process some players have been injured while glasses have been smashed” said Simkonda

Meanwhile, one of soccer analysts Tsanzo Rashid has blamed Super League of Malawi for delaying with actions against such malpractices in the top flight League.

“Hooliganism is slowly becoming a habit in our matches because this is not the first time for this to happen, weeks ago it was Blue Eagles complaining at Dedza Stadium, the same Dedza complaining of being beaten at Champion Stadium when they faced Silver Strikers but we have heard nothing from SULOM, had it been actions were taken, this could have been avoided” said Rashid

On his part, Gerald Kampanikiza agreed with Rashid by recalling past games that Sulom failed to take action after violent conducts happened.

“Let me also appeal to Sulom to take necessary action to all teams and it’s supporters involved in violence and vandalism of properties”

“Dedza supporters and officials were assaulted at Champion Stadium by Silver Strikers supporters but more than three weeks have elapsed and nothing has happened”

“Somehow I can blame Sulom for being quiet on such barbaric acts and supporters are now thinking that this is normal in football and they can continue to behave like that” he said.

Kampanikiza further advised Sulom to respond quickly when complaint is submitted to them without favouritism.
