Organizers of the Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Silver jubilee commemoration match between Silver Strikers and Blue Eagles have announced the securing of two partners who will be responsible for the prizes when the teams meet at Silver Stadium this Saturday.
According to the co-chair of FAM and ACB joint working committee, Susan Mtuwa, MASM and Paramount Academy will provide the prize money for the winner and runner up of the contest as well as Man of the match award.
“Let me also highlight some other partners that have come on board to help, we’ve got MASM who are giving us the price money for this particular match, so for the prize money the winner will walk away with K2 million while the runner up will get K1million”
“But on top of that we also have another sponsor who has sponsored the man of the match and this is paramount Academy who are sponsoring the man of the match with K400,000” said MTUWA
Furthermore, Mtuwa also thanked the Reserve Bank of Malawi and Malawi Police Service for offering their teams for free.
She also commended National Government Committee that has also assisted with various things for the event to happen.
The match come’s hot on the heels of the country’s graft busting body memorandum of understanding which they signed with FAM in combating corruption in football.
Mtuwa also said this year’s commemoration day event will fall under the theme “together towards corruption free Malawi”.
According to the organizers, they have rolled out a number of activities to happen on that particular day to spice up the occasion.
“So on this particular day the activities are going to start at 9am with a parade of a trophy and we will also use the parade as awareness of the match during that Saturday morning. So the parade will begin from the offices of the Anti Corruption bureau from City Centre and then we will move to Kawale, Mchesi and then Mtandire before coming to Silver Stadium”
“In addition to that we will also have one of the celebrated artist in Malawi who will be anveiled tomorrow who is coming courtesy of FAM”
“But we will also have very important curtain raiser game involving Flames Legends against Honorable members of Parliament so we are also honored that these two teams have given us the honor to be part of this particular event”
Speaking on behalf of the Bankers, Reserve side coach Macdonald Yobe said they will use first team players in order to come out victorious.
“We have got almost 25 players who play regularly and we have about five who play for reserve so for us we are going to feature the strongest side on that day so to entertain the spectators” said Yobe
On his part, Blue Eagles assistant coach Christopher Sibale retaliated the need of using strongest team as an assessment of his players ahead of competitive matches.
“I think this game will help us thinking that we have a game to wind up in Super League and we are in Airtel Semis as well as Castel Round of 16 so this is like a testing match to see our weaknesses” said Sibale
Last time the two side met was in TNM Super League second round when the Bankers beat Blue Eagles 1-0 at Bingu National Stadium.
