Mzuzu based Soldiers, Moyale Barracks have penned the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) asking for the fixture of the teams who Are battling for their lives in the elite league to be revised.

According to the fixture released by Sulom on November 16, 2023, Moyale Barracks are expected to host Mafco FC on Wednesday 22 November, 2023 while Civil Service United are traveling to Blantyre to face Bangwe All Stars three days later.

Moyale Barracks General Secretary, 2/Lieutenant O Masamba said Sulom must revise the fixture to prevent any potential match fixing in order to make certain of the reform.

“We therefore demand that the fixtures/matches be played on the same day and kickoff at the same time in both of the teams remaining fixtures. To be more specific the Moyale FC match against MAFCO should be played on the same date and time as the Civil vs Bangwe match.

“It is an open secret that failure by the league to revise this schedule will only lead to the conclusion that SULOM is favoring other teams in the relegation fight and wishes to promote match fixing as the league’s survival goes to the wire.

“We demand equal footing in the final matches. We do not have to play under protest just for the sake of it. SULOM should be seen to walk the talk on prevention of match fixing and not play a blind eye due to unsporting interests. As President Fleetwood’s Sulom motto of REVIVE, REFORM, and REBRAND speaks for itself, SULOM fixtures committee has the responsibility to revise these fixtures to prevent any potential match fixing in order to make certain of the reforms.”

Currently, two teams have already been confirmed that they have been relegated from the super league and one more team is expected to join them.

Moyale Barracks, Ekwendeni Hammers, Mafco FC, Civil Service United are the teams that are high risk of facing a relegation chop.

Moyale Barracks are in the relegation zone with 31 points from 28 games while Ekwendeni Hammers are 13th with 33 points from 29 games. Mafco FC and Civil Service United are 12th and 11th with 33 points and they have two games each to wrap up the season.
