Haji Wali, a center half for CRECK Sporting Club, has denied allegations of age cheating on social media, insisting that he was born in 2002 and is 22 years old.
After his outstanding performance and selection as man of the match in CRECK’s recent victory over Bangwe All Stars in a Super League match, Wali’s age became a topic of debate on social media.
A screenshot from his previous club, Silver Strikers, indicated that he was promoted from the reserve side in 2017 when he was 20 years old.
This suggests that under normal circumstances, Wali should be 27 years old this year.
However, Wali refuted these claims in an interview with The Atlas Malawi, insisting that he is indeed 22 years old and accusing Silver Strikers of erroneously posting his age on their official page.
“I am 22. Silver Strikers posted wrong information without my knowledge,” he said
This is the seventh year for Hadji Wali to play in the top flight league.
This means that he was promoted to Silver Strikers senior team at the age of 15.
He played with Silver Strikers senior team for five years before he joined FCB Nyasa Big Bullets where he spent a season.
In 2023 he switched to Bangwe All Stars before joining CRECK Sporting Club earlier this year.
