MultiChoice Malawi sponsored students from the Malawi School of Government to attend the MACRA Open Day held at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe on Wednesday.

Deborah Matowe, Corporate Affairs and Public Relations Manager for MultiChoice Malawi, said the sponsorship was aimed at exposing students to issues of national interest.

Matowe said this signifies the importance of corporate social responsibility in building national development.

“It’s high time companies contribute by building the capacity of our young stars. Undergraduate students often lack access to practical examples and involvement in national interest issues. This sponsorship aims to bridge that gap,” she said

Matowe said the company plans to sponsor other students to attend a similar event in Mzuzu.

Dalitso Nseula, the Dean of Students for Malawi School of Government who accompanied the students applauded Multichoice Malawi for the support.

“We are grateful to MultiChoice Malawi for giving these students this enriching experience,” he said adding that; “Interacting with the regulator MACRA allowed them to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of relevant processes. It was a mind-blowing experience that will equip them for a digitally transformed Malawi

“This sponsorship by MultiChoice Malawi serves as a powerful example for other corporations. By investing in the knowledge and exposure of future leaders, companies can play a significant role in shaping a brighter future for Malawi”.

MultiChoice Malawi’s investment in fresh minds goes beyond this specific initiative as it is also involved in the MultiChoice Talent Factory which is a film and television excellence program that identifies, educates, and empowers aspiring filmmakers from Africa.

By nurturing creative talent, MultiChoice Malawi is not only fostering a vibrant entertainment industry but also creating a pipeline of future leaders equipped to contribute to Malawi’s growth across various sectors.
