Ntopwa Womens Football Club will now be called Kukoma Ntopwa Womens Football Club after sealing a sponsorship deal with Capital Oil Refining Industry (CORI).
The Amagheto Kids announced the development through their Facebook page on Friday morning saying the Club will unveil the sponsorship next week.
The Oil refining company will be pumping money into the team through their brand, “Kukoma” and the details of the deal will be revealed during the unveiling Ceremony.
“Big news [is] coming for our Women’s Senior team as we will soon be unveiling a new sponsor, Capital Oil Refining Company(Cori) under the Kukoma Cooking Oil brand,” writes the Club.
Ntopwa Womens Football Club owner and technical director, Isaac Jomo Ousman confirmed in an interview.
“We are happy with the sponsorship. As of now, we can’t reveal the details of the deal. All details will be revealed during the unveiling Ceremony,” he said.
Isaac Jomo Ousman is an ambitious football administrator who is one of the figures that played part in the development of Womens Football in the country.
The Amagheto Kids became the first and only Malawian team to participate in the Caf Champions League this year after winning the Football Association of Malawi sponsored Women’s Championship.
In the Scorchers squad that won the Cosafa Women’s Cup in South Africa after beating Zambia, South Africa among others, Ntopwa contributed three players; Goalkeeper, Mercy Sikelo, defender Rose Alufandika and midfielder, Funny Magombo.
