John Chandiyamba, a Malawi-born FIFA player agent based in the United Kingdom, has called on local clubs and players to elevate their physical conditioning as the 2025 football season approaches.
In an exclusive interview with The Atlas Malawi, Chandiyamba stressed that Malawi must actively pursue opportunities in England and other European leagues to raise its football standards.
“Malawi has no shortage of talent, yet we’ve never seen a Malawian player in the Premier League, La Liga, or Ligue 1,” he said. “The missing link is strategic technical guidance to connect our players with European clubs—and that’s a gap I’m determined to help close.”
As one of only three FIFA-licensed agents from Malawi, Chandiyamba also urged local teams to invest in modern fitness equipment, highlighting the poor state of training facilities in many clubs.
“How can we expect the national team to compete when players aren’t conditioned to peak fitness levels?” he questioned.
Despite these challenges, Chandiyamba remains optimistic. With improved fitness programs, better timing in player development, and professional management, he believes Malawi could soon join the ranks of African nations exporting top talent to Europe.
The 2025 TNM Super League season is scheduled to run from April to November, according to the Super League of Malawi’s calendar.
