The TNM Super League took a decisive turn on Wednesday with major movements in the top three of the table.
Nyasa Big Bullets now have a five point advantage in the race for the title as Kamuzu Barracks revive top two hopes in after week 31 midweek fixtures.
We take a look at some major talking points.
NBB EDGE CLOSER
Nyasa Big Bullets edges closer to retain League Championship for the fourth time in a row following their 2-0 away win over Mighty Wakawaka Tigers at Mpira Stadium.
Goals from Babatunde Adepoju and Patrick Mwaungulu lifted Bullets to 64 points as they remain with 3 games to wind up the season.
The People’s Team will need a draw in their next encounter to be crowned champions as they will reach challengers Blue Eagles’ maximum points with unreachable goal deference.
SOLDIERS HUMILIATES KARONGA
Alexander Sikwambe scored twice to help MAFCO FC beat Karonga United 5-0 at Chitowe Stadium.
The other goals for the Salima based Soldiers came from Yohane Malunga, Richard Mbulu and Mphatso Phillimon as they maintain sixth position and move a point behind Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.
NOMA SUFFER BACK TO BACK DEFEATS
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers quest to finish second has been dented with a 1-0 home defeat against Moyale Barracks.
Brown Magaga’s early strike was enough to give Moyale Barracks Maximin points and hand Wanderers second successive League defeat following another defeat at Blue Eagles last week.
Now Wanderers needs to win all remaining three games and pray that KB and Blue Eagles should lose their remaining fixtures to finish second.
BABATUNDE EXTEND LEAD
Top goalscorer Babatunde Adepoju stroke from the spot in Bullets’ win over Tigers to extend his goal tally to 17, two goals ahead of closest golden boot contender Muhammad Sulumba.
Sulumba had a chance to close up the gap but he failed to make impact in Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 1-0 defeat against Moyale Barracks.
With three games to go both Babatunde and Sulumba have chances to add goals to their tallies.
FIRST GOAL FOR MBULU
MAFCO FC forward Richard Mbulu has registered his first goal of the season after rejoining the club from professional football in South Africa.
Mbulu’s goal drought came in MAFCO’s 5-0 win over Karonga United.
