The TNM Super League returned with a bang on Saturday as a day full of goals provided fans with even more late drama as the gap at the top remained intact.
After one weekend of no Super League matches following the completion of first round, the five fixtures that marked the start of a run of the final round of the season were even more exciting.
24 goals have been scored today with only three matches producing a remarkable 20 goals.
Both Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and CRECK Sporting Club were on target eight times while Civil Sporting Club made it four.
The Nomads beat Mzuzu City Hammers 8-0 thanks to braces from Isaac Kaliati and Clement Nyondo, with Thierry Sama Tajong, Mphatso Kamanga, Misheck Botoman and Gaddie Chirwa scoring the other goals.
CRECK Sporting Club too scored eight as against Baka City in a crash of debutants.
A hat-trick from George Chaomba and a goal each from Harvey Nasiyaya, Anold Kiyama Son, Yamikani Tambala, Peter Godfrey and Gift Kadawati were enough to hand Joseph Kamwendo a huge victory over the Karonga side.
Another game with more goals was Civil’s 4-0 victory over Chitipa United where Festus Duwe scored three times and Blessings Malinda completed the massacre of the Northern Region side.
At Balaka Stadium, Bangwe All Stars relied on James Msowoya and Felix Demakude goals when they beat PremierBet Dedza Dynamos 2-1. Ma Dai scored their consolation goal through Ibrahim Sadik.
Finally, there was late drama at Karonga Stadium where Silver Strikers scored last minute goal to beat Karonga United 1-0.
Stain Davie was on target inside three minutes of added time for the Bankers to maintain a nine-point lead over Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at the top of the TNM Super League.
