Small scale Farmers and women in agricultural services have a sigh of relief following the launch of a new company in the country, Easi Seeds that has come with various innovations in the agriculture industry.

With its Headquarters in South Africa Easi Seeds, is an African company that has subsidiary branches across Africa including Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Rwanda among others.

During the launch at its offices at Kanengo Lilongwe on Monday, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Madalitso Wirima said government was welcoming the company which elbows government to reach its vision of food security and job creation.

“The company is complementing government on the agenda of job creation which is very commendable. There are a lot of activities that will lead to many citizens being employed.

“It’s very impressive because this company comes in after the national assembly has just passed the Seed Bill that is there to deal with counterfeit seeds that hits the market making our farmers lose a lot for using fake seeds,” she said.

Wirima appealed for more players in the seed sector and engage in several agricultural activities with new technologies so that in turn the country substitute’s importation with exportation of locally made agricultural products.

“Further, I would like to commend this company for putting an emphasis on working with women in this sector who are 52 per cent of the total population of this country,” she added.

The Deputy Minister encouraged companies in the agriculture sector to dwell into research so that the country achieves a lot from the findings.

Easi Seeds Group Chief Executive Officer, Lomo JanseVan Rensburg applauded government for promoting the services of the company saying it has found its working environment very conducive.

“We are producing Sunflower, water melon seeds and many other seeds which will help small scale farmers to do better because these seeds are better and proven to be more yielding from all the countries where we are found.

“This company is one of the leading companies in the region supplying the full range of products to optimize the feeding of animals and in that regard we have,”

“Easi Academy a branch of this company that trains agricultural entrepreneurs, small-scale farmers and various role players in the agriculture sector in various subjects,” he said.

Rensburg thanked Malawi government through the responsible Ministry of Agriculture for boosting its operations by connecting the company to Extension Planning Areas (EPAs).
