The Malawi chapter of the Media Institute of Southern Africa, MISA Malawi has lauded the media outlets for professional and successful coverage of the Vice President and eight others’ funerals.
Chairperson for MISA Malawi, Golden Matonga in a statement released on Tuesday said the mainstream media managed to professionally and successfully provide up-to-date and accurate information during the period.
“It is pleasing to note that the Malawi media sacrificed both individual journalists and media outlets’ time and other resources to ensure that listeners, viewers, and, readers across the world get access to accurate and relevant information throughout the week,” he said.
MISA Malawi has also extended applause to the government, families of the deceased, security agencies, and, all stakeholders for according to the media an opportunity to operate in a free environment throughout the period.
Media houses since June 11 have been consistently providing updates on the funeral of the late State Vice President, Dr Saulos Chilima, and eight others who died in a plane crash last week.
