Dedza Dynamos Football Club Head Coach, Andrew Bunya said claiming a positive result against the quadruple winners, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday will mean that the team can compete against big teams in the league.
The 2024 TNM Super League will kick off on Saturday when “Madai” will be at their fortress home, Dedza Stadium hoping to get a positive start in their third season in the elite league.
Speaking during the pre-match interviews, Bunya said the team should show character and express their ambition of competing against the big teams.
“I’m very sure that the boys are very much ready for the season. they are physically and mentally fit,” he tells the Club’s Media.
Andrew Bunya who replaced Gilbert Chirwa who joined Friends of Mulanje Orphans haven’t performed well during the Pre-season preparations, including a dismal performance in the Sapitwa Bonanza played in Mulanje.
Dedza Dynamos confirmed their stay in the league last season with a famous win over Bullets with Clement Nyondo scoring an early goal. Dedza Stadium is a place where the People’s team struggle to chalk points as they have failed to win their last four visits to the venue, losing to Masters Security and Mafco FC in other fixtures.
However, Bunya cautions his charges against having it in mind that Bullets struggle at Dedza and they need to approach the game with a cautious mind.
“It’s a game that we need to approach with cautiousness,” said Bunya. “Although we didn’t have good preparations but I have seen positive things, we could create chances and we just have to convert those chances into goals.
“Winning the game against Bullets will give us the shape and it will show that we can compete and we need to be at our topmost form.”
Dedza Stadium and Dedza football faithfuls have been remarkable since Dedza Dynamos started using the venue as their home ground. The figures that are announced after games are always plausible and the fans are potent.
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are unbeaten in their last 11 opening games of the season, the last time they lost in the opening game was in 2012 when they succumbed to the in-form Silver Strikers 4-0 with Asedi Ayami claiming a brace while Rodrick Gonani and Dave Moya scored a goal each.
Bullets recorded a historical quadruple last season, retaining the FDH Bank Cup, TNM Super League, and winning the Airtel Top 8 Cup and Castel Challenge Cup, however, Pasuwa has asked his players to step up as other teams are aiming to challenge their pre-eminence.
Bullets Assistant Coach, Michael Ngore said every dog has got its own day.
“Like always, we strive to do well in every game and yah, we are ready for the game. Everyone is out to stop us and we know that we have to up our game.
“[Dedza Stadium] is one pitch that we find it difficult to collect maximum points, but every day is a new day, the sun rises and we will try again,” he said.
Dedza Dynamos is on the hunt for a fine start to the new season after surviving the banishment to the interior league towards the end of the league.
