Nyasa Capital Finance Bank has increased sponsorship from K65 million to K75 million.

The Bank announced the increament Saturday during the launch of the 2023 edition of the cup at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

The K70 million package will be splitted into equal amounts to accommodate all three regional football associations as the trophy is being played by Division One and Premier Division teams.

Chairman for the organizing committee of the trophy Fleetwood Haiya believes the increament will stiffen the competition.

“We are very pleased the way the competition was run and with this sponsorship increament we expect fireworks and we believe that we are going to have more talents as the level of competition will be high this time around” said Haiya

When asked what the future of the competition holds since this is the final year of the three-year deal signed two years ago he said: “Nyasa Capital Finance is here to transform the lives of people it is our call duty to make sure that we revive the sports in Malawi and as you’ve heard Iam the outgoing chairman but the incumbent chair has promised that Nyasa Capital will continue to sponsor the competition so I believe this is not the end of Nyasa Finance Capital Cup” said Haiya

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) General Secretary Alfred Gunda said the Association appreciates Nyasa Capital Finance Bank’s effort in uplifting football in the country.

He said: “It is one of the commendable initiatives that football needs in our country, for football to grow we need to support the roots of football and where Nyasa Capital Finance has been financing is where we are developing our talent.

“To see our stars they don’t have to be accidental star, they have to be developed and for them to be developed they need to be given competition at the youth level and this is where Nyasa Capital has invested in by supporting regional associations in the past three years with K65 Million not we have been given good news of sponsorship increament of K70 million which is amazing investment indeed an encouragement, a push into the growth of our game” Gunda added

Southern Region Football Association chairman Raphael Humba hailed the Nyasa Capital Finance Cup for improving football at regional level over the years of it’s existence.

“We thank Nyasa Capital for coming in, as you are aware that in the past years we were only managing Premier League and division one but there were no other regional competitions so the coming in of Nyasa Capital has helped improve football as now we are able to point players who are playing in Super League and national team through this competition” said Humba

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve are the defending Champions of the competition in the southern region while Central and Northern Regions last year’s champions were Namitete Zitha FC and Mayamiko Stars respectively.
