UTM president Dalitso Kabambe has made a U-turn of personal sacrifices he will implement once elected Malawi president in the forthcoming elections in September.
In November, Kabambe told journalists that if elected as President of the country, he and other government officials will make personal sacrifices including walking on foot to Capital Hill, to enable the country to have sufficient resources for development.
However, in an interview on Cruise 5 with Joab Chakhaza, Kabambe said the remarks were just a joke..
“Inali Joke chabe imene ija,” said Kabambe why laughing.
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Councillor for Blantyre City Soche East Ward Leonard Chimbanga accused Kabambe of false promises
“I didn’t watch the whole interview, but I caught this clip—and honestly, I’m struggling to believe what Dr. Kabambe is saying. A President walking to the office? Really? Is this a campaign promise or a plot for a new Tikufelanji series?
“Let’s break it down. Security alone makes this impossible. Imagine the convoy of bodyguards sprinting behind him or the traffic chaos in Lilongwe as motorists dodge the Presidential Jog,” said Chimbanga.
