The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has today conducted the capacity building workshop on football management for the District Football Association.
The day-long training held at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe, aimed at capacitating the District Football Committee’s, Youth Football Associations and the Beach Soccer on match coordination, basic leadership and essential management, marketing and Finance including the Media.
Speaking in his opening remarks, FAM President Fleetwood Haiya said for the transformation the game agenda to be complemented there’s need to impart football management expertise from the grassroots.
“When we are talking about transforming the game we need to start from grassroot that’s why today we’re drilling leaders from zones, districts then we go to the regions then at the national level” said Haiya
He further expressed an improvement in running this year’s FAM competitions from the bottom.
“We thought it wise to capacitate these people considering that we are going to have competition very soon which are going to kick off, we are talking of Castel Cup, FDH Cup, FAM Cup, Division Cups, Youth football competitions and also Beach Soccer. With this training I hope to see an improvement in running these competitions this year”
The Dedza District Youth Football General Secretary Crink Mahilas commended the FAM for the training saying it has helped to widen their knowledge in football management.
At least 60 participants were available for training from the District Associations, Youth Football Associations and Beach Soccer.
