After much anticipation, Malawian artist DNA has officially released his latest album “Che Kaliwo”.
The 15-track project, which blends Afro-pop and soul promises to deliver what DNA describes as “fireworks” – a powerful exploration of love’s complexities designed to strengthen relationships rather than break them.
The album serves as musical therapy for couples, addressing real-life conflicts like infidelity in “Mr My Side Chick” and family tensions in “Baby Mama” with a redemptive approach.
DNA explains his vision: “Instead of creating havoc, this music pulls couples closer together.”
Produced by Enzo Beats and Macia among others, the album showcases DNA’s signature sound, ranging from upbeat dance tracks to heartfelt ballads.
Early listeners have particularly praised DNA’s commitment to full-album artistry in an era dominated by singles, noting standout tracks like the title song “Che Kaliwo” that recall the magic of his previous hits.
The artist’s deliberate creative process, which caused some delays, reflects his philosophy: “I’m not a bubblegum artist. I let the song’s prowess speak for itself.”
Fans got their first taste of the album at a special listening session in Lilongwe on October 26, 2024, featuring performances with Mario and Fada Chris at Muho Club.
Now available worldwide on all major platforms including Qobuz and Apple Music, “Che Kaliwo” represents what DNA calls “not just music, but a journey” for listeners.
The album’s release marks DNA’s return to the spotlight after what he describes as a necessary creative hiatus, proving that his patient approach to music-making continues to resonate with fans who appreciate depth and authenticity in their music.
