Deputy Minister of Education Nancy Chaola Mdooko has expressed satisfaction with how this year’s Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) exams have started.
Chaola Mdooko said this on Wednesday after she inspected some examination centres in Lilongwe and Mchinji.
The Deputy Minister said she is happy that this year’s PSLCE have started on a right note without any record of serious challenges.
“Indeed standard 8 learners have begun their final primary school exams today so I have inspected a number of schools in Lilongwe and Mchinji and iam happy that it has started on a right note without major concerns” said Chaola Mdooko
The Inspection started at Mama Aisha Islamic School and then Mitundu Primary School in Lilongwe before winding up at Kamwendo Primary School in Mchinji.
Supervisor at Mitundu Primary School Timothy Letius Kanyoni said the centre recorded no serious challenges on the opening day of this year’s exams.
“The first day has been good only that we have a shortfall of one invigilator because initially they planned to have 15 classrooms but after revising the sitting plan we have produced 16 classrooms resulting to a shortfall of one invigilator” he said
Nyoni further said the day one recorded atleast 20 absentees out of 559 registered from two schools, Mitundu Primary School and Patsankhondo Primary School.
On her part, a candidate from Maziko Private Primary School in Mchinji Zainab Adam said everything has started perfectly and is hopeful of finishing well.
According to Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb), 276052 candidates are sitting for the examinations this year.
