CRFA Mpira TV Division One league kicks off April 23

The 2023 Mpira TV Division One Central Region Football League will kick off April, 23 when Mitundu Baptist football club hosts Simulemba United at William Murray Ground in Nkhoma, Lilongwe.

Central Region Football Association (CRFA) Vice General Secretary Antonio Manda has confirmed that the match between Lilongwe based Mitundu Baptist FC and Simulemba United from Kasungu will be part of this year’s CRFA Division One football launch activities.

“The launch will take place at William Murray Ground on 23rd of April 2023. The event will start with a parade of Mpira TV Cup around Nkhoma area then we will have an official match involving Mitundu Baptist and Simulemba United so it’s going to be very special day for our Association” he explained

Manda further thanked Football Association of Malawi through Mpira TV for for taking over the sponsorship of Regional Division One Leagues after the withdrawal of Standard Bank PLC.

“We are so excited with the good news that indeed after the withdraw of Standard Bank Unayo FAM has just come in with whooping K15 million”

Commenting on the development, Mitundu Baptist FC team Manager Precious Phiri said his team is geared for the assignment.

“Simulemba FC should be prepared to face tough opponent, we have come to showcase entertaining football and hopefully we will carry the day” said Phiri

On the other hand, Simulemba FC General Secretary Titus Chagoma said he is interested with the performances of his players in trainings and preparation matches.

He said: “the players are showing great performances and I believe we will kick start the season on a high note”

Apart from the match between Mitundu Baptist FC and Simulemba United, CRFA also released opening fixtures for all teams in which it’s venues and dates are yet to be announced.

Below is the complete list of opening fixtures the CRFA announced last Sunday after conducting the draw:

• GROUP A

-Mitundu Strikers vs Kasungu Police
– Nsalu United vs Zaithwa FC
– Lilongwe Airbase vs Mtengenji Monaco
– Balang’ombe Real Bombers vs Mangoni Warriors

• GROUP B
