Bullets, Wanderers will square off in Castel Semis

Blantyre Derby between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the Castel Challenge Cup semi final on a date and venue to be communicated by Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

The People’s Team beat Ekwendeni Hammers 4-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in their quarter final to book thei place in the final four of the tournament.

Kalisto Pasuwa’s side took the lead after 11 minutes through Hassan Kajoke who headed home a Patrick Mwaungulu delivery from corner-kick.

Bullets were two up six minutes later courtesy of Mwaungulu’s goal after being assisted by Yankho Singo.

The hosts continued to dominate play and they extended the lead to 3-0 at 40th minute through Kajoke who capitalized from Chisomo Sambani’s error.

The second half was balanced and a bit sloppy and it took until 78 minutes for spectators to witness the only goal of the half.

It was Bullets captain Precious Sambani who sealed the victory with a superb strike. Bullets won corner which Mwaungulu delivered to the direction of Sambani who was unmarked on the edge of the box, and the leftback chested down it down before releasing a shot into the net.

The victory ensured Bullets a place in the Semifinal where they are set to face Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

The Nomads reached the top four stage with a 3-0 win over Moyale Barracks over the weekend.

In another quarter final match, Silver Strikers have progressed after coming from a goal down to beat Blue Eagles 4-2 at Bingu National Stadium.

The Bankers were trailing after 8 minutes following Blue Eagles goal by Blessings Malemia but Maxwell Paipi reacted with an equalizer 12 minutes later thanks to Patrick Macheso assist

Emmanuel Kaunga gave Silver Strikers the lead on 29th minute but Blue Eagles made sure it was all square at halftime after their 36th minute equalizer by Macdonald Lameck who scored from the spot following a handball incident in the box by Nickson Mwase.

In the second half, Silver Strikers came strong and it took just 10 minutes for Innocent Shema to restore Silver Strikers lead through penalty awarded to them as Ganizani James blocked the ball with his arm.

Silver Strikers took the game beyond Blue Eagles reach after 66 minutes with Patrick Macheso registering his goal after receiving beautiful cross from Duncan Nyoni.

The Bankers will date Bangwe All Stars in the Semi finals of the competition.

Bangwe defeated Chitipa United to reach the semi’s of the competition.
