Ajawa Commodities has increased the sponsorship package for the Mchinji District Football Trophy from K3 million to K5.5 million per season.
This was announced on Sunday by Ajawa Commodities Managing Director, Austin Biton Ajawa during trophy’s final at Kamwendo Model Ground.
The staggering 50 percent increase will see Ajawa Commodities spending K16.5 million for the next three years.
“I am impressed with Mchinji District Football Committee for running this competition professionally, that’s why I decided to come up with an improved package,” said Ajawa.
Tsoka Aluya Jickson expressed his gratitude to Ajawa Commodities for extending the sponsorship.
“We are happy, first due to the sponsorship extension to the next three years, secondly, for increasing the package. We hope this will motivate the players and we expect more exposure for our players to the top leagues,” said Jickson.
The Mchinji District Sports Officer, Martin Panyanja advised Mchinji District Football Committee to continue being transparent and accountable as a way of maintaining trust to the sponsors.
During the final match, Blue Wings defeated Mikundi Youth 3-1 to clinch the title worthy K800,000.
For finishing second, Mikundi Youth received K400,000 while Misale United and Sigereta Hammers were given K300,000 and K200,000 for finishing third and fourth, respectively.
The Champions also received K20,000 as the most disciplined team.
There were also individual awards as Matafale Sulamoyo of Mikundi Youth won the Golden Boot while Frank Mpota of Blue Wings was the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament. Timothy Banda of Blue Wings also received an award as the Best Coach.
Benai Dabwino and Billy Phiri were awarded as best Referee and Assistant, respectively.
To the part of Media, Johnny Palichesi, Andy Rico Harare and Emmanuel Zandondo, all from Midziwathu Community Radio got there awards.
