UTM has postponed a public rally that was scheduled for this weekend in Lilongwe at Masintha ground.
According to UTM publicity secretary Felix Njawala, the decision was made on security reasons.
“We wish to inform our members, supporters, and the general public that the UTM Party has decided to shift the rally initially scheduled for this weekend. This decision comes after a consultation with the Chief Executive Officer of Lilongwe City Council, who advised us to postpone the event due to security concerns,” he said in a statement released Friday
He said on the same day, President Lazarus Chakwera will be attending the CCAP Centenary Celebrations at Civo Stadium.
“In the interest of public safety and to avoid any potential security risks, we have agreed to move our rally to a later date.
“The rally has been rescheduled to take place on 1st September 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and continued support,” he said
