UTM leaves Tonse Alliance

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) main partner in the Tonse Alliance, UTM has announced that they have left the union.

Addressing the media in Lilongwe on Friday, UTM Publicity Secretary for UTM, Felix Njawala said following the development, the party will now focus on the 2025 elections.

He however, did not disclose whether it will partner with another party or it will go solo.

The Tonse administration, led by President Lazarus Chakwera and late Saulos Chilima, dislodged the former governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of Peter Mutharika in the June 23 2020 Fresh Presidential Election.
