UTM presidential aspirant Newton Kambala has condemned candidates who have been dishing out money on delegates to Garner votes at the Party’s Convention, slated for 17th December 2024 in Mzuzu.

Kambala said this at UTM offices in Area 10, Lilongwe after submitting his nomination for his bid to contenst for the Presidency of UTM.

Kambala was disappointed that some candidates are using illegal ways of attracting delegates to vote for them.

“The reason I’m emphasizing this is because I’ve noticed that some aspirants are actually offering money to the delegates, in order for them to move into their teams”

“UTM is not for sale. Delegates should not exchange their votes for money. Bribing delegates is illegal according to laws of this country” said Kambala.

At exactly 10:30 in the morning, team Kambala started off from the Kamuzu memorial in Area 18 Lilongwe, flanked by supporters, cheering him on to contest for the position of the UTM Presidency.

“There has been calls from Malawians that UTM needs leader that will continue with the vision of Chilima. Iam not driven by any personal missions, it’s all about wanting to serve Malawians and I’ll makesure that we deliver the dream that Saulos left”

On behalf of UTM Secretariat, Administrative Secretary for UTM Augustine Gracewell Mtendele who has been entrusted to receive nominations said there has been no issues since the opening of nominations last week.

“It has been successful. We started this last week and we have received nominations from Dr. Kabambe, Patricia Kaliati and Dr. Mathews Mtumbuka and today we are all witnessing the submission of nominations from honorable Kambala” he said.
