Vice President Michael Usi has acknowledged Prophet Shepherd Bushiri’s immense contributions to Malawi’s tourism and humanitarian sectors saying such contributions are key to the country’s development.
Usi made the remarks Friday night during Bushiri’s 42nd birthday celebration held at Golden Peacock Complex Auditorium in Lilongwe.
He said such contributions are important towards nation building and urged the prophet to continue the work for the betterment of citizens.
“I recall when I was Minister of Tourism, you (Bushiri) contributed, and has been contributing, a lot to the sector. Sometimes, we had discussions about the industry,” he said.
He added that Bushiri’s work is reminding and inspiring citizens not to just ask government for what it can do to them but also ask themselves what they can do for government.
Usi, therefore, said government’s doors are open for faith leaders and everyone else to come together and discuss issues of concern in order to move forward together.
In his remarks, Bushiri commended government’s commitment to serve the nation.
He, therefore, appreciated Usi for the remarkable work he is doing in humanitarian particularly food distribution which, he said, given hope to countless people.
Among other dignitaries present at the birthday celebration were Founder of Embassy Good News Church, Prophet Uebert Angel; government officials; leader of the United Democratic Front Atupele Muluzi and other politicians; Apostle Misheck Bushiri, National Pastor of RSA Evangelist Fritz; musician Wendy Harawa, guests from Nigeria and Botswana.
