Top 5 most expensive football players transfers in Malawi
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The local football transfer market has produced a new expensive player after Nyasa Big Bullets forward Babatunde Adepoju’s move to South African National first division side Venda Academy.

Babatunde has sniffed into the top five most expensive sale on the land as he joins Peter Banda, Duncan Nyoni, Dalitso Sailesi and Muhammad Sulumba.

Nyasa Big Bullets leads the list of teams that have been doing smart business by selling their top talent despite being hardly seen to be overspending while Silver Strikers has only one player in the top five.

Here are Malawi’s top five biggest sales to date…

5. MUHAMMAD SULUMBA – K18million (NBB to Polokwane, 2018)

Muhammad Sulumba joined South African side Polokwane City in January 2018 for a fee of R370,000 (K18million) after scoring less than 10 goals for the People’s team in all competitions the previous season.

He was spotted by Polokwane City while playing for Malawi National team during 2015 COSAFA games.

4. DALITSO SAILESI – K21million (NBB to Lusaka Dynamos, 2017)

Lusaka Dynamos payed $30,000 (K21million) to Nyasa Big Bullets for the services of Dalitso Sailesi who signed a five year deal after an impressive performance at COSAFA Cup games in South Africa.

3. DUNCAN NYONI – K40million (Silver Strikers to Simba SC, 2021)

Silver Strikers sold their star winger Duncan Nyoni to Tanzania giants in August 2021 on a club record fee of K40million.

Nyoni signed a three year deal before both parties mutually agreed to terminate the contract after just some months.

2. BABATUNDE ADEPOJU – K50million (NBB to Venda Academy, 2023)

The Nigerian forward has just left Super League Champions Nyasa Big Bullets and signed for South African National first division side Venda Academy.

Adepoju scored 24 goals in all competitions last season that convinced the relegation threatened Venda FC to cough K50million for his services.

He is the current second expensive sold player from Malawi to the foreign clubs.

1. PETER BANDA – K80million (NBB to Simba SC, 2021)

Flames forward Peter Banda holds the record for the most expensive transfer to outside this country following his mega money deal to Tanzania giants Simba SC in August 2021.

Banda returned to African after the expiry of his contract with Moldovan side Sheriff Tiraspol and completed a permanent deal to Simba SC worthy K80million.
