A Christian organization, Passion Center for the Children, has brought a ray of hope to women in Mangochi, Machinga, and Mulanje districts through a new tailoring skills training program.
The initiative, launched at Faith Community Church in Mulanje, aims to equip women with the skills and tools needed to become financially independent.
The six-month training program will benefit women from Hope Community Church in Mangochi, Chinduzi Community Church in Machinga, and Faith Community Church in Mulanje.
Upon completion, each group of 15 women will receive start-up tools, including sewing machines and equipment, to kick-start their tailoring businesses.
According to Pastor Saul Mateyu, Executive Director of Passion Center, the program is designed to empower women economically, enabling them to become breadwinners in their families and contribute to their communities.

Mateyu said the initiative has received widespread acclaim from pastors, women groups, and other stakeholders, who believe it will have a significant impact on promoting economic development in the region.
The women beneficiaries, including those from the Mothers Sewing Group at Faith Community Church, have expressed gratitude to Passion Center for the initiative.
They anticipate that the skills acquired will enable them to generate income and support vulnerable members of their communities.
This initiative is part of Passion Center’s ongoing efforts to promote economic empowerment and development in the region, having established six mothers’ sewing groups since last year.
