By Erik Chiputula:

Week 24 of the TNM Super League produced a total of 10 goals.

Dedza Dynamoz were the unfortunate travellers after suffering two defeats up North where they also conceded six goals without scoring against Karonga United and Ekwendeni Hammers.

Meanwhile, Silver Strikers were another unlucky away team suffering a 1-0 defeat against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers.

Sable Farming surrendered maximum points to Red Lions to remain in the drop zone while Kamuzu Barracks’ unbeaten run in the second continues with a win at Mighty Tigers.

Below are some of the key talking points from Week 24

KARONGA ENDS 260 MINUTES GOAL DROUGHT

Karonga United ended a three-game winless run with a thrilling 2-0 victory over Dedza Dynamoz on Saturday afternoon at Karonga Stadium.

Ingwina went into the game as underdogs having failed to register any goal from their last three defeats, but coach Christopher Nyambose shuffled his pack and found a winning combination as they secured a 2-0 victory .

Mphatso Kamanga and Sheriff Shamama were on target for the home side.

EKWENDENI WIN AS SABLE ARE DEALT WITH A RELEGATION BLOW

Goals from Isaac Msiska, Wongani Lungu, Chawanangwa Gumbo and Gift Chunga handed Ekwendeni Hammers a 4-0 win over Dedza Dynamoz on Sunday at Rumphi Stadium.

The victory helped the Hammers to extend the gap between them and the drop-zone to 7 points after a team behind them, Sable Farming lost 2-0 to Red Lions at Balaka Stadium in another Sunday fixture.

The Zomba based Soldiers scored through Patrick Rudi and Andrew Biyo.

Ekwendeni Hammers have collected 22 points from 24 games while Sable Farming have 15 points from 21 games.

KB EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN TO NINE WITH A WIN OVER TIGERS

Kamuzu Barracks extended their unbeaten run in the second round to nine games with a 1-0 away win over Mighty Tigers.

Four days after their 2-0 victory over Dedza Dynamoz, KB were back in action on Sunday at Mpira Stadium where they beat struggling Mighty Wakawaka Tigers 1-0 to make it six straight wins in the League.

Sam Gunda scored for KB who remain second on the table opening a 3 point gap over third placed Blue Eagles and in the process reducing the gap between them and leaders Nyasa Big Bullets from 10 to 9 where as their opponents Mighty Tigers drop from 10th to 12th.

It’s not looking good at all for Trevor Kajawa’s Tigers.

DEDZA DYNAMOZ ARE WEEK 24 POINTS DONORS.
3 GAMES, 8 GOALS CONCEDED 0 GOALS SCORED O POINTS COLLECTED

For the first time since joining the top flight Dynamoz have lost their three back to back games.

Dedza travelled to Dowa on Wednesday where they lost 2-0 to KB before proceeding to the North where they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Karonga and a 4-0 loss to Ekwendeni 24 hours later.

With the recent defeats, Dedza have slumped to eighth on the Standings with 32 points from 22 games.

3 HORSE RACE AS JOINS RACE FOR GOLDEN BOOT

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers striker Muhammad Sulumba hasn’t given up hope of catching Nyasa Big Bullets’ Babatunde Adepoju and Chawanagwa Kaonga of Silver Strikers in the race for the TNM Super League golden boot.

His first half strike on Sunday was all what Wanderers needed to bag home all the 3 points against Silver Strikers.
That goal has taken Sulumba’s tally for the season to 10 a goal behind the joint top duo of Kaonga and Adepoju.
Unlike the 2 front runners all of Sulumba’s goals have come from open play.
