By Staff Writer:

Police in Dedza District have arrested two certified cashiers for D&S Event Managers identified as Chikaiko Msinde, 25 and Lawrence Kasiya, 29, for allegedly stealing gate collections amounting to K218,000.00.

According to Dedza Police Deputy Publicist, Sergeant Cassim Manda, the two were arrested on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Dedza Stadium soon after TNM Super League match between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar FC.

It is alleged that, the duo on the stated date while collecting gate fees were seen hiding the money in their pockets and were caught red handed by a Wanderers fan who saw them sharing the stolen money in the rumness manner.

“The two suspects were arrested and later taken to the station where upon being searched police found the said amount of money inside their pockets.

“The two have since confessed that an official from Super League of Malawi (Sulom) requested them to steal gate collections for them to get lion share,” said Manda

Meanwhile, Dedza Police have instituted an investigation on that unknown official.

Dedza Police Station have since applauded Mighty Mukuru Wanderers fan for bringing a fruitful tip which has resulted on the arrest of the two unfaithful cashiers and the recovery of the stolen money.

Dedza Police have further put a new strategy of searching all those involved in gate collections before and soon after the game as a way of halting the malpractices.

Msinde and Kasiya hail from Kasekaminga Village, Traditional Authority Kamenyagwaza in Dedza district.
