Management of one of the fastest growing chain stores, Sana Cash and Carry says they are  pleased with the response of customers in this year’s Christmas and new year promotion.

When we visited Sana Mega Store in Lilongwe on Tuesday, hundreds of customers were seen queuing to pay for goods they had purchased at the tills making the shop look small yet it is mega.

Managing Director of Sana Rauf Chaudrey said in an interview that they surpassed their customers’ expectations to have goods reduced during this festive season.

“This is unprecedented. We have seen customers coming in large numbers and we have been overwhelmed. Prices of the goods we sell were considerably slashed to make sure that customers have an enjoyable festive period,” said Chaudrey.

The4 promotion which started last Friday is expected to come to an end in early January 2026.

One of the customers Stain Winick said he normally shops at Sana because their prices resonate well with customer’s pockets during this tough economic periods.

“When I heard that there was a promotion I saved enough to make the festive season memorable, not only for me but even my family as a whole. I commend Sana management for reducing prices and this must be done periodically to help many people get basic needs at very affordable prices,” said Winik.

Apart from reducing prices loyal customers are also getting purchasing vouchers.

There were fears that consumers will not priorities buying goods during this festive season due to skyrocketing prices but if the Sana promotion can be used as a yardstick then the game has been turned upside down.
