One of the countrys renowned poets, Qabaniso Malewezi, popularly known as Q, says all is set for the launch of his album called The Son of a Preachers Son.
The launch is expected to take place on 6th May, 2023 at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
Speaking to Malawi News Agency on Wednesday, Malewezi said preparations for the event are at an advanced stage and the whole production team is set to roll out.
“We are in talks with our partners to make sure that everything is in order. We are now at 90 percent in preparations, the 10 percent left is for execution. We have taken quite a long-time rehearsing, putting the plan together, curating the poets and working with them.”
“I am also working with musicians because this time around I wants to give kind of a musical poetry experience. “Said Malewezi.
Malewezi added that patrons should expect a full arts experience, where there will be expressive dance, music, poetry and that it will be a culturally rich event where he plans to bring the best.
Rabecca Chavula the poet, popularly known as Nyahlane who is expected to perform at the event said she is excited to be part of the launch and operating alongside big names in the industry.
“I am well prepared for the Son of a Preachers Son album launch and also excited to be part of the performing team.” she said.
Nyahlane and other upcoming poets will also showcase their poetic skills as a way of encouraging young and upcoming poets to be available at the event.
Some of the artists to be part of the launch include Raphael Sitima, Phindu Banda, Paul Kachala, Sindi Nyasulu among others.
