The Health and Rights Education Programme (HREP) has launched a new awards program that will be recognizing Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), youth-led organizations and the media for doing an outstanding work in maternal, child and adolescent health and nutrition in Malawi.
The awards program was launched Tuesday night in LIlongwe.
Speaking during the official launch, HREP Executive Director for Malawi Maziko Matemba has told journalists that the awards will be recognizing individuals and organisations that will be submitting the best published or broadcast, case stories focusing on health financing and sexual reproductive health and rights.
Matemba said winners will be selected annually and they will be receiving a commemorative trophy, a certificate, and a linkage to sister partner organisations or institutions at national and international level.
He disclosed that nominations will open on 8th may 2023, it will be due on 8th October 2023 and winners will be announced in November this year.
Bwaila Media Club (BMC) President Horace Nyaka said they have welcomed the initiative that is going to encourage journalists to write more stories on sexual and reproductive health system in general.
“As media club, we have welcomed the awards. With these awards, we look forward for journalists to engage authorities on health programs that are taking place in health sector”, said Nyaka.
