President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed cabinet Minister at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
In his address during the ceremony, Chakwera emphasised the need for the Ministers to deliver in the interest of Malawians.
Chakwera further challenged the new Ministers to make sacrifices to help the country achieve its intended goals, including fighting corruption.
After taking the oath of office, Minister of Natural Resources Owen Chomanika expressed gratitude for the honour and responsibility of serving the country with integrity, dedication and passion.
Chomanika also commended President Chakwera for the new appointments in his cabinet, describing it as a testament to effective governance and national development.
Among other newly appointed Cabinet Ministers who took oath of office include, Jessie Kabwira who has been appointed as Minister of Higher Education, and Lilongwe East Member of Parliament (MP) Ezekiel Ching’oma as the new Minister of Homeland Security.
Mwanza West Legislator Joyce Chitsulo was sworn in as Deputy Minister of Local Government Unity and Culture, and Mangochi North MP Benedicto Chambo as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
In addition, Chakwera also included in his cabinet Lilongwe South MP Peter Dimba as Deputy Minister of Transport and Public Works, Patricia Nongozo Kainga as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, while Nkhatabay Bay South MP Noah Chimpeni has been sworn in as the new Deputy Minister of Health.
