The National Development Party (NDP) has expressed willingness to form a political alliance with other parties to take on the current administration in the forthcoming general elections.
NDP President Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo stated that the party is open to collaborating with other opposition parties to bring about change, citing the current government’s failure to address the country’s challenges.
Speaking at a political rally in Zomba, Mwenefumbo criticized the current administration, led by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), for rampant corruption, tribalism, and nepotism.
He emphasized that the NDP’s primary goal is to provide solutions to the challenges facing Malawians.
Mwenefumbo assured the people that an NDP-led government would revive the economy, reduce prices of basic commodities, and ensure access to affordable fertilizers and seeds for farmers.
He also pledged to deal with corruption, which he believes has contributed to widespread poverty and hindered the country’s development.
” Corruption is rampant in the country, these malpractices hinder the country’s development ” He added.
The NDP Vice President, Dr. Chikondi Lisimba Mpokosa, echoed the President’s sentiments, highlighting the need to empower young people through job creation, vocational skills training, and education support.
“As NDP, we have a comprehensive package for young people, aiming to empower them to become responsible citizens,” she said.
The NDP’s plans to form an alliance with other parties demonstrate their commitment to bringing about change and addressing the challenges facing Malawi.
According to Mpokosa ,with the tripartite elections scheduled for September 16, the NDP is confident that its vision for a better Malawi will resonate with voters.
