The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) has withdrawn accreditation of five undergraduate programs at Exploits University, just 16 days after the institution held its graduation ceremony.
According to the Council’s press release of July 19 2024, the decision to withdraw the program was arrived at its 43th ordinary meeting held on June 27 2024.
The Council has also withdrawn accreditation of Skyway University and Millennium University.
“The Council withdrew the accreditation of five undergraduate programmes at Exploits University until the University complies with the NCHE minimum standards for Higher Education Institutions.
“The five programmes whose accreditation status has been withdrawn are; Bachelor of Arts in Health Systems and Management, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Bachelor of Accountancy and Bachelor of Arts in Logistics and Supply Chain Management,” reads part of the statement signed by NCHE chief executive officer Ambumulire Phiri.
There was no immediate reaction from the university.
Speaking at the university’s graduation ceremony, Principal Secretary in the ministry Professor Mangani Katundu urged all private universities to act by NCHE regulations.
“Universities should not graduate students from unaccredited programmes. They should employ qualified staff relevant to the programmes,” Katundu said
