The rulling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has trashed report fundings that it would be out of government, if polls were held in August this year.
A new study has found that 76 percent of Malawians, believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and the government is not doing enough to fight corruption.
However, the report from the centre for social research at the University of Malawi, indicates that, if elections were held at the time of the survey, 43 percent of Malawians would vote for the DPP while MCP would receive 29 percent support.
But in response to that, MCP Secretary General Richard Chimwendo Banda quashed the report findings, saying it’s unrealistic.
“The report is coming from an institution that goofed about the outcome of 2019 tripartite election, they also goofed the results for the last by-elections”
“They don’t care whether they conduct the survey on a smaller number of people. In a country where you have 7 million voters and you only ask 1200 people and you tell Malawians this is the right survey? They can conduct their survey’s but that has no bearing on the outcome of next year’s elections” He said.
Chimwendo further predicted that MCP will retain the presidency seat after 2025 tripartite elections.
“DPP will never come back, because the truth is that Dr. Chakwera’s popularity is continually growing in the country and we will remain the rulling party after 2025 elections”
