The Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) tactics of parading officials from fellow Tonse Alliance parties as defectors has angered People’s Party (PP) President Joyce Banda.
Speaking at a political rally at Nancholi in Blantyre on Saturday, Banda said worse still, those being paraded by MCP are former PP members.
As a faithful partner, Banda said her party has rejected some MCP members’ intention to join PP out of mutual respect.
Her remarks comes a few weeks after former Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkhata Bay Central Constituency, Raphael Mhone joined MCP after dumping PP.
MCP Director of Strategy and Minister of Homeland Security, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma officially welcomed Mhone together with several members from PP at district and constituency level during a political rally in the district on Sunday.
At the rally, Ng’oma said development policies that MCP was implementing on the ground was what was attracting people to leave their parties and join it.
