One of the aspiring councilors for Lilongwe City – Lumbadzi Ward, Independent shadow Raphael Mataka, has urged people to vote for individuals like him who are development-focused in order to develop the area.
Mataka said this today at Mkukula Teachers Development Centre (TDC) when he was presenting his nomination papers for the ward councilor position for the forthcoming General Elections slated for September 16.
Mataka also bemoaned the tendency of some politicians who perpetrate violence during the campaign period, which is currently underway, and promised to conduct an issue-based campaign, as he has already started doing. Among other initiatives, he said he has constructed bridges and houses for the poor, elderly, and vulnerable people, graded the Mkukula community ground, repaired damaged and faulty boreholes, and introduced football and netball leagues to entertain people and promote sports development, thereby keeping people busy instead of engaging in various malpractices.
So far, the exercise has started on a good note today with five aspirants presenting their parliamentary and councilor nomination papers.
