Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Peter Mutharika has, for the second time, settled for Ntcheu North West constituency, picking former Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Jane Ansah as running mate.
In the nullified 2019 Presidential election, Mutharika picked Everton Chimulirenji, who was a member of parliament for Ntcheu North West constituency.
Recently, Chimulirenji won the DPP primary elections in the area against Jane Ansah.
However, the party ordered another primary election after Ansah complained about several elections, which prompted Chimulirenji to obtain a court injunction against the move.
Before the issue was resolved, the party started parading Ansah as its candidate in the area, a move which angered Chimulirenji, who resigned and joined UTM.
