Sparc Systems Limited says it is set to take Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry to another level with the introduction of an International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2 on cyber security in Malawi.

Speaking in an interview, Sparc Systems Ltd Managing Director, Wisely Phiri said ISC2 was brought to Malawi as an examination centre and bringing this to Malawi is very important as it shows that Malawi has a capacity of operating at global level when it comes to cyber security.

“This will help people to understand all aspects of the cyber security landscape and this is open to everyone who is interested to take the career in IT or Cyber security, even if a anyone does the training outside the country they will be able to come and write the exams at our centre with no extra cost.

“People used to go outside the country to take these exams which was very costly, bringing this to Malawi will help reduce the cost, draining of forex and also gives the IT profession flexibility in booking the exams as well as attempting the exams as many times provided they follow the rules,” said Phiri.

Information Communication Technology Association of Malawi (ICTAM) spokesperson, Brian Fudzulani commended Sparc Systems Ltd for the initiative, saying this will help the ICT industry to grow as people will no longer be struggling to go outside the country to sit for ISC2 exams.

“We expect this to have a huge impact on cyber security professionals in Malawi and the local exam centre will assist in boosting the ICT industry since we will have more people certified in cyber security and contribute to the country’s economy” said Fudzulani.
