The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) on Tuesday took the Tchingira Campaign to the Capital City, Lilongwe.
The campaign aims to empower mobile phone owners by implementing the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR).
The system will give mobile phone owners the right to block mobile devices that are stolen, the system will also block phones that are being used by fraudsters to defraud mobile phone users.
In Lilongwe, the team was at Wakawaka market at Kaphiri, Chinsapo and Nsungwi in Area 25.
Speaking on the sidelines on the campaigns, MACRA head on IT Steven Perete said the system does not only give mobile phone owners security for their gadgets but also privacy.
He said so far, they have already connected the system to Airtel and TNM networks and completed the consultation for the SIM cards Regulations which will bring a new layer of security in the country.
In recent past, Malawians have been subjected to mobile money fraud activities.
All mobile gadgets and SIM cards in the country will be registered in the system.
