Kabwira arrested for causing death by reckless driving

Police in Dowa have arrested a 28- year-old man, Mabulosi Kabwira, for causing death of Kelvin Aurelius Mtokale, 23 in a road accident.

According to Dowa Police Station public relations officer Sergeant Alice Sitima, the accident occurred on January 8 2024, at about 19:00hours at Mchikho village along Chezi-Dowa road in the district.

“On this material day, Mtokale was riding a Yamaha motorcycle registration NN 9282 from the Nalunga direction heading Dowa boma along the earth road.

“Upon arrival at Dambe village, Kabwira who was also cycling unregistered Rico motorcycle, started overtaking Mtokale.

“In the process, they collided, which prompted Mtokale to fall down and Kabwira never stopped.

“Following the impact, Mtokale sustained a crack on the skull and was bleeding from the nose and ears and was rushed to Dowa district hospital where he was later referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital for further treatment,” she said

Sitima sud Mtokale died on January 16, 2024 whilst receiving treatment at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital.

Mabulosi Kabwira who hails from Kafanikhale Village Traditional Authority Mkukula in Dowa district, will appear in court soon to answer the charge of causing death by reckless driving.

“Meanwhile, police in the district are urging all road users to observe traffic rules and regulations to avoid accidents,” she said
