The Federation of Disability Organization in Malawi (FEDOMA) has hailed Minister of Labour Agnes NyaLonje for her unwavering support to persons with disabilities in the country.

FEDOMA acting executive director Symon Munde made appreciative remarks after NyaLonje’s K200,000 starter pack pledge to two girls with disabilities who have just completed Tailoring courses under TEVET.

“Iam impressed to see students with disabilities graduating today. To express my gratitude, I will give K100,000 each to these two students as a starter park” said NyaLonje.

Tailoring graduates Chifuniro Werengani and Kelesina Hananiya were the two refered to, while deaf and dumb student Chisomo Kanjiwa was unlucky not to be present during graduation ceremony in Nkhoma last Tuesday.

In reaction to the news, FEDOMA’s Munde said: “Firstly I should say this is not the first time that Hon. Agnes NyaLonje demonstrate that kind of commitment in the advancement of rights of persons with disabilities. Mostly when she’s getting to appoint personal assistants for her office she goes for those with disabilities as a way of motivating and appreciating them that they have capacities and this is quiet positive”.

“That she goes further to support these kind of girls with disabilities in terms of a starter pack it’s good news and I would want to urge all Malawians to emulate this” added Munde.
