Dowa CCAP Christians have called for continued goodwill amongst people as the new year begins.

The call was made as members of the church led by Reverend Arnold Dunwell Kalemba Saka donated assorted items to patients at Dowa district hospital as part of celebrations of the new year on Monday.

Saka said as a church, they thought of cheering patients as one way of celebrating Christmas and new year, and bringing message of hope to patients.

“As one way of showing love as God did for us, Dowa CCAP thought of celebrating with patients at the hospital with some groceries so that we celebrate the festive season together.

“We also wanted to share the word of God with them because as patients, they not only lack basic commodities during their stay at the hospital, but also the word of God,” said Saka.

He called upon everyone to reflect on all the good things God has done to them, and reach out to those that are less privileged.

He added that the spirit of giving and reaching out to others should be a habit amongst all.

Receiving the donation, one of nurses at the hospital Austin Bandawe welcomed the gesture and pleaded with christians and other well wishers to keep helping patients at the hospital, saying this brings hope and joy to them.

One of the patients Angela Stick also commended Dowa CCAP Christians for helping patients at the hospital.

“I am very grateful because I am starting the year with a blessing. These are the basic things we lack here.

“When people are in the hospital, they lack hope, but what you have done has brought hope and courage. Please continue doing this so that many souls can see the love of God through Christians,” she said.
