Member of Parliament (MP) for Machinga East Constituency, Esther Jolobala has asked government to come in quickly and rehabilitate Nayuchi Road which was destroyed by Cyclone Freddy.
Jolobala said that the road is in a very pathetic status and impassable since the incident happened which is affecting some well-wishers’ quest to assist survivors.
She said people are still struggling because there is no food for them to eat due to the road condition.
“We are failing to reach out to the survivors on the other end. Since the cyclone hit the country, both District Commissioner and Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DODMA) officer are failing to reach out to the survivors,” said Jolobala
She said that even though she has been meeting several ministries and departments on the issue, her efforts have been in vain.
“I thought government is busy assisting our fellow affected people but after waiting for so long, I have seen that we have are not being considered and the feeling that there is selective approach in this issue is every strong,” said Jolobala.
