The battle for the top spot has intensified as Mbabzi moved closer to Silver Strikers Reserve who extended their lead at the summit of the Central Region Football Association (CFRA) K16.5 million Chipiku Premier Division Round 1 of 12 teams.
Kamuzu Barracks Reserve continues to struggle after suffering another defeat over the weekend.

SILVER EXTENDS LEAD
Silver Strikers Reserve defeated Mangoni Warriors 2-0 on Monday afternoon at Dedza Stadium to open a three point gap at the summit.
Ebenezer Mpangeni stroke twice inside first 30 minutes to hand his team a 2-0 lead at break and the second half didn’t produce any goal.
With the victory, the Young Bankers have gone up to 16 points, three above second placed Ngolowindo FC.
RACE TIGHTENS
Wins for Mbabzi United and Support Battalion pushed them closer to leaders Silver Strikers Reserve.
On Saturday Mbabzi United beat Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 away from home to claim second place.
Mbabzi with 13 points they are short of three points to catch Silver Strikers at Top.
Another team that registered a vital victory is Support Battalion who came from a goal down to beat Villa FC at Aubrey Dimba Stadium and they have moved fifth with 12 points.
Yohane Sakala scored the opener for Villa FC in the first half but two quick goals by Blessings Gwazantini in additional minutes of the second half handed Support Battalion the victory and moved four points behind leaders Silver Strikers Reserve.
WINLESS DUO
Out of all teams in the round of 12, only Kamuzu Barracks Reserve and Leyman Panthers are still winless.
KB Reserve played their seventh match on Saturday which they lost 2-0 against Mbabzi United.
So far they have just managed three draws but they have lost in the other four games.
Another team that has registered zero wins is Leyman Panthers who have played six games so far and they have two points after claiming two draws.
WARRIORS FALL
Mangoni Warriors have dropped down to 10th from 9th after suffering a 2-0 defeat at Dedza Stadium.
The Ntcheu based side have remained with six points from seven games.
Another team with six points is Ngolowindo FC who also lost 2-0 to Luanar on Sunday and they lay 9th on standings.
BLOW FOR KAWINGA
Kawinga FC have been handed a blow in their title chase as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Airborne Rangers.
Lazarus Chirwa scored for Kawinga but his goal wasn’t enough to hand his team much needed victory as Airborne Rangers found the back of the net through Steve Binauli.
After seven games Kawinga FC have collected 12 points while Airborne Rangers have dropped down to sixth with 11 points.
