Principal Resident Magistrate Benjamin Chulu sitting in Lilongwe has ordered opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president Alfred Gangata to furnish it with hospital admission documents by the close of business today.
The magistrate made the order after Gangata failed to appear before the court on Thursday, where he is answering charges of falsifying tax records, forgery, uttering a false document and concluding a transaction without a tax clearance certificate.
His lawyer Chancy Gondwe told the court that Gangata failed to attend the court proceedings because he is not feeling well.
However, the State said the defence has just orally communicated to them without hospital admission documents to confirm the claims.
The court adjourned the case to April 8, 2025.
