Shadow candidate for Ntcheu North West constituency, Everton Chimulirenji has dumped the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and has joined UTM.
Chimulirenji, who was running mate to Peter Mutharika in the 2019 general elections, won the DPP primary elections in the area against Jane Ansah.
However, the party ordered another primary election after Ansah complained about several elections, which prompted Chimulirenji to obtain a court injunction against the move.
Despite the issue being unresolved, the party is parading Ansah as its candidate in the area.
In an interview with Times, Chimulirenji said he has made the decision following advice from the electorates.
He said he decided to dump DPP, the party he has been loyal to, for the sake of peace of mind.
